Pronouns

I'm sorry, but pronouns are something that I'm super passionate about. And, I have reasons for that. This post is gonna be talking about pronouns, in all kinda of ways. Let's go!

I actually once had a huge argument with my friends once because multiple of my friends(this was a few years ago) tried to correct me when I said 'they' in writing because I was only taking about a singular person. They told me to say 'he or she' and 'he/she'. That was an assignment for ELA class, and when I turned it in(with saying 'they') the teacher said(not exact) "Good job, {my name}. I like how you didn't say he/she, and instead said 'they'. Most writers, especially at your age, say he/she." My friends that I had argued with were right behind me when my teacher said that, and, I am not kidding when I say this, they stomped off after my teacher said that. I'm pretty sure that they just didn't want to be wrong(except... they still were...). Anyway, I get super annoyed when people try to correct me about that kind of thing. I'm not saying that it's bad to correct someone about pronouns, when it comes to using the wrong pronouns for you, I'm saying that it's bad to correct people saying 'they' for a singular person into 'he/she'.

Now, for people who are gonna argue with me, they/them pronouns are singular. Well, they can be. But they don't always have to be. They are singular, and plural. Like fish, moose, etc. You probably use them on a daily basis, without even realizing. When you don't know someone's gender, like the person driving car in front of you, or that random person walking along the street.

See. Right there, I was gender neutral. And that wasn't even on purpose, to make a point. (Though, now that I think about it, it does make a good point...) I used the word "person" instead of 'lady', 'guy', etc. It's actually pretty simple, getting used to automatically going to gender neutral, instead of gendered. But that's not today's post. (It may be a future one, so look out!)

She/her, he/him, and they/them pronouns are not the only kinda of pronouns. There are other pronouns, such as neopronouns, and xenopronouns.

Neopronouns are sets of singular, third-person, pronouns that are not officially recognized in the language they are used in. They're usually created, and used, for a more gender-neutral pronoun, or for expressing specific genders better. A few examples of neopronouns are xe/xem/xyr(Xe walked xyr dog yesterday), ey/em/eyr(Ey went back to eyr home), and ze/zir/zir(Ze wanted to see zir friends.)

Xenopronouns are that are not able to be expressed and/or understood by humans, or human language. Most xenopronoun users are other-kin, or otherwise identify as aliens, non-humans, etc. I cannot tell you any examples, because... xenopronouns.

Now, for anyone who doesn't know, for anonymity reasons, I do not reveal my actual gender, though I do say that you are allowed to use any pronouns for me, though I suggest they/them, since you do not know my gender. I will say that I am not male or female. That may or may not help you, so... yeah... (Neopronouns are fine, along with she/her, he/him, etc.)

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post. Comment questions you have, things I should add, etc! And remember: all pronouns are valid, and respect pronouns!

Bye!

(Or... bi!)

Bi, Pan, Omni

Bisexual/biromantic(bi), pansexual/panromantic(pan), and omnisexual/omniromantic(omni). Sound similar? They are. But they're not the same.

as a nonbinary lesbian, when i tell people i'm a lesbian, they get super confused, and start using she/her pronouns... i get really annoyed, but understand where they are coming from, but i don't understand why they automatically think sexuality = gender...

Ooh, speaking of that, I wanna do a post on how pronouns don't mean gender, and gender doesn't mean sexuality!!!
